After you have summarized the talk as a whole in one paragraph, think about what Mike
Rowe says about the “forgotten benefits” to hard work. Do you agree?

whole in one paragraph, think about the kinds of dirty jobs Mike Rowe listed: welders, plumbers and electricians. Some American companies can’t find American
workers to hire for manufacturing jobs.
SCC Milford used to have waiting lists for many of its programs; that no
longer happens. In your view, how can America fill these jobs? What are some strategies this school or
businesses could use to recruit young Americans to these jobs? Or do you
disagree that this is a problem? Use connected paragraphs and an appropriate

think about how Mike Rowe organized and presented his message. This man is a pro with rhetoric. Analyze and evaluate Mike’s presentation;
what specific words, images, ideas, actions, did he use to make his point? What was effective, and why was it effective?
