Papers Returned

Any daybook score corrections are discussed after class, please.

I return papers. I'm hoping you made enough mistakes to discover something you can practice improving.

You write in your daybooks about your score.

Comma rules, etc. How about finding typos? Have you seen this? More information.

Time for help with EasyBib as well.

In your daybook, answer question #2 on page 612 in Bedford.

Homework:

1. Final Version Due of  A Kickstarter on Paper. Have one hard copy and all drafts and purple comment sheets tomorrow.

2.  TWFTD: ludic in OED

Work Day

1. Read "Lazy Eyes" by Michael Agger on pages 609 to 612 in The Bedford Guide.

              Be ready to answer questions over the reading on Monday.

2. Open your paper in Moodle in Turnitin to look at grammar corrections (still done by software).

To open your paper up in Turnitin, go to our class in Moodle. Click on the "Draft #2 upload to Turnitin" link, then click on the "My Submissions" tab. That should open and show you the title of your paper with a little pencil logo. Click on either the title or the pencil, and then wait for the "viewer" to load.

Your paper should open in the viewer. At the top left is a button to click for the grammar feedback. If you see NO purple marks on your paper ( they take time to load) it is either not working, or your paper is perfect. It does mark stuff that is correct -- it's asking you to double-check. It's only a machine. Mouse over stuff -- it gives explanations.

3. Create the Final Version of your Kickstarter on Paper, due Tuesday Feb. 4, one hard copy.

Draft #2 Feedback Day

Being persuasive:  Thinkwrite about a time that someone persuaded you to do something or to think something different from your normal ways. Or perhaps you persuaded someone else. How did that happen? What does it take to "change a mind"?

We upload papers into Turnitin in Moodle for the grammar help.

Remember to use EasyBib to cite your pictures/illustrations if you use the two allowed.

Now you read and comment on two drafts.

Turn in your daybook at the end of class.

Homework:

1. I have a meeting tomorrow, so there will be another work day. Class will NOT meet Friday Jan 31. Use the Turnitin viewer to help you edit and proofread. The Final Version of your paper is due Tuesday Feb. 4. On Monday bring any editing/proofreading questions you have.
