I don't know what you wrote for the thinkwrite yesterday, but here's some music.
You turn in your Summary/ Analysis papers.
Thinkwrite about them.
We look over the prompt about Intellectual Property.
Have you heard about these guys, Patent Trolls?
You have two tasks today:
1. A little grammar. Go to this page. Number in your daybook from 1 to 10. Do the first 10 exercises. As you do them, write only the FIRST 4 WORDS of each fragment in your daybook. Note: the site does not number them, so be careful.
2. Now I want you to find some interesting stuff using the internet.
Look in YouTube and on the internet for an example of problematic use of someone else's intellectual property.Upload it into the Problems with Intellectual Property Forum in our Moodle class.
Homework:
1. Finish the above.
2. Daybooks due Monday. There will be 3 handouts included with it: the annotated article (tan), the article questions (tan) and the movie essay (pink).
3. If you write your Short Essay #3, you'll be done. I will not talk about Intellectual Property ANY MORE in class.
4. TWFTD: literal in OED

What is a 5 Paragraph Essay?
"How can I tell what I think till I see what I say?"
Thinkwrite: Think about the examples I shared on Monday. Is plagiarism the same as stealing?
The Five Paragraph Essay is a genre that helps you clearly explain what you think on a given topic. First, we'll look at a model essay, so you know what's expected. (handout is in moodle)
After you read the single paragraph on page 1 and the essay on page 2, do these things:
Thinking about intellectual property and fair use, here's what YouTube tells people who want to make money. Do you think a compilation video is fair use? Does it make a difference if the sources are cited?
Is the Constitution under attack in the area of copyright?
You're going to write a short, five paragraph essay on this topic.
I pass out the prompt for this essay.
Homework:
1. Prepare the Final Version of your Summary/ Analysis paper, and bring all tan comment sheets and Writer's Page.
2. The next daybook check will be Monday. There are two tan handouts that will part of that check: your annotated article, and the worksheet of questions about your article.
2. TWFTD: plagiarism in the OED.

After you read the single paragraph on page 1 and the essay on page 2, do these things:
- On page 2, label the paragraphs: Intro/ Body 1/ Body 2/ Body 3/ Conclusion
- Underline the thesis statement (one sentence stating what the whole paper is about).
- Put a wavy line under the topic sentences of each body paragraph.
- Now on page 1, label each sentence with a 1,2 or 3 depending on which body paragraph it was expanded into.
- Put your name on this and keep it in your daybook.

Working on Your Final Version
I return your letters. (8 AM read drafts) On the topic of letters, and learning the art of rhetoric: The review. The comment storm. The manager's response.
You open your Draft #2 in the TurnItIn reader, and look at editing changes. Ask me about stuff you don't understand. Ask about revisions. Ask for help if you need it. The final version is due Friday.
Also, ask about marks on your Observation paper. Do you know what to write in your daybook about that paper?
Homework:
1. Get your Summary/Analysis finished for Friday. You MAY upload again in Part 2 if you want to see that errors are gone (not required).
2. TPFTD: fair use (look up the term, define and quote)
