Short Essay #3 Mike Rowe

What IS TED? Wikipedia says...

Presenters have exactly 20 minutes, or 10.  The good ones practice A LOT to get it perfect. Here are two old favorites of mine:

 Aimee Mullins.

And Mike Rowe.

There are, of course, many more.  Some are better presentations than others.  But Mike's stands out, and you are using it to write your Short Essay #3 -- I hand out the prompt (there is a copy in  the class in Moodle).

Tomorrow you turn in your Long Summary/ Analysis and daybooks.  There will be time to work on this short essay.

Homework:

1.  Get the Final Version of the Summary/ Analysis ready to hand in tomorrow.  Remember to have the Works Cited page printed as well. And bring all drafts and comment sheets.

2. TWFTD:  handicap in OED.  Please read down to definitions 4 and 5.

A Works Cited Page

I return your Long Observation Paper. Do the following:

1.  Copy down one positive remark by Kate.
2.  List one weakness (in your opinion or Kate's).
3.  List a count for all c/s, r/o and frag.

Let's look at MLA style citation.  You'll see this again for the last paper, but here is an introduction.

For the Summary/ Analysis paper, you are referring to another author's work, so in a school situation, it's correct to provide a bibliography.

In MLA style, the bibliography is called  a Works Cited page.

Let's use EasyBib and make one.  Register (see link on sidebar of blog) and we'll start.

Homework:

1.  Get Draft 2 ready for tomorrow. You should have a hook, thesis, both summary and reponse, and a conclusion.

2. TWFTD:  bibliography in OED.
