The CRAAP Test

You are going to be looking for information to add to your Problem/ Solution paper.

The information will need to come from sources that pass the CRAAP test.

1. Click on this link http://prezi.com/rtodm5yfbmhn/?utm_campaign=share&utm_medium=copy&rc=ex0share

Use the arrows at the bottom to move through the entire Prezi. You should take notes in your daybook as you watch it.

2. When you finish, there is a quiz in our class in Moodle that you must take. You have to score 80% or higher to get credit for taking the quiz; you have two attempts allowed.

3. You may use Google to find sources. Click on and watch this prezi about getting the most out of Google: http://prezi.com/mqpmuyi2feab/?utm_campaign=share&utm_medium=copy&rc=ex0share

Databases for Research

Draft 2 due tomorrow does NOT require research. However, when we get back next week, you will begin looking for material to add to your finished paper, according to my requirements.

What will those requirements be? We start looking at them today.

Let's start with Mike Mulligan! Which leads to this article.

Go to The Hub and click on the Library (LRC) link in the row of links below the top section.

We will all look at the top two databases, specifically Gale.

I hand out the assignment sheet for the last Solo paper. I have you circle important points.

Homework:

1. Have Draft 2 ready for tomorrow. Also be ready to upload your draft into TurnItIn in Moodle. The final version of Problem/ Solution will be due Wednesday May 28. I will collect daybooks on Tuesday May 27.

2. TWFTD: annotate

3. Note: On Friday you will have online assignments; class will not meet. There will be 2 Prezis to view; the links will be here on the blog. THEN there will be a quiz to take in our class in Moodle. You will find it in the highlighted section (Problem/Solution) of the class.

Mapping Your Problem

Get out the assignment sheet for the Problem/Solution paper.

Go to https://www.text2mindmap.com/.

Create a mindmap of your Problem/Solution paper; refer to the checklist on the back of the assignment sheet as you work on it.

Remember, this paper is about doing critical thinking, not repeating what you've always heard other people say about this problem. Be skeptical.

You MAY do research for this version of the paper; you won't be graded on your use of sources until the next version of the paper.

When you have printed out your mindmap, work on the draft that is due tomorrow.

Homework:

1. Draft 1 of the Problem/Solution paper is due.

2. TWFTD:  skeptical (google?)
