MLA Some More

Thinkwrite:  Get out your graded Problem/ Solution paper. What were the strengths and weaknesses of the paper? What do you need to think more about?

Handout. Underline all the in-text citations as you read.

A. Answer these questions in your daybook:

1.  How many in-text citations are there?

2. When you read an in-text citation, check to see if it clearly leads to a source in the Works Cited list. List any problems you find.

3. Are there items on the Works Cited list that were NOT cited in the paper? List them.

4. When was this paper written, would you guess? _____ It follows an older version of MLA, which is MLA 6. What major difference can you find between MLA 6 and MLA 7? Look at one of YOUR works cited pages for MLA 7.

5. If you know the page number where information occurred, you should include that in an in-text citation. Please put a star next to each in-text citation in "My Friend Michelle" that SHOULD have included a page number in parentheses. How many are there? [Hint: use the bibliography to help decide if there were page numbers in the source.]

B. Everyday Writer page 390 Ex. 37.1  Type this and put in your daybook. NOTE: You must create TWO sentences for each number 1-10.

Homework:

1. Prepare your revised Problem/ Solution paper. Draft #1 is due tomorrow, Friday. Have in-text citations AND a Works Cited page started for this draft. On Monday you will submit a copy to TurnItIn in Moodle. I will not accept papers to grade that have not been submitted. Final Version is due Tuesday June 9.
